Gerald R. Ford Airport | Parking Deck Roof Addition

Gerald R. Ford Airport | Parking Deck Roof Addition

The airport customer parking facility for the Gerald R. Ford International Airport was losing 25% of its capacity during the winter months due to snow accumulation at the upper levels. Fishbeck provided the architectural design and engineering for a 415,000-sf roof addition to the 3rd and 4th levels of the existing deck. The roof structure was designed to both integrate with and enhance the original design aesthetic of the facility. The solution maintained the required control tower runway sightlines and maintained the 60-foot structural bays for parking and cost-efficiency.
