GVSU Annis Water Resources Institute Field Station

Grand Valley State University needed to replace their existing one-story metal framed field station building. The new facility was constructed in the same general location as the existing building and houses research laboratories; mesocosm tanks and associated equipment; boat loading/unloading  area; research equipment storage, workshop, and maintenance areas; offices and support space; and scientist accommodations.

Building design utilizes a planning module that provides initial planning flexibility for laboratory and office space, lending the ability to adapt building space to academic need over the life of the building. Its exterior is complementary to the existing Lake Michigan Center and utilizes a variety of finishes to express the various functions within the building.
