FTC&H's core purpose is to "help
people realize their visions while benefiting society."
We are in the business of helping people. We guide,
solve problems for them, and help turn ideas into reality.
Our professional inspiration and satisfaction is derived from the
fact that our work benefits society – it helps make the world
better.
FTC&H staff put action to our core purpose,
both professionally and personally. Following are a few examples of past
staff involvement in the communities we serve.
- United
Way: In addition to the annual fund
drive, monthly
theme luncheons are held with proceeds benefiting United
Way.
- Ada Elementary School "Think
Science" Program: For 14 straight years,
FTC&H has partnered with the teachers and
students to provide a unique partnership that introduces students
to a variety of science and engineering subjects.
- Grand Rapids Area Pre-College Engineering
Program (GRAPCEP):
Promotes math and science to underserved youth. In addition to organizational
support, staff volunteer for job shadowing and other learning experiences
with the youth.
- Paws with a Cause: FTC&H staff has helped
train 3 Paws with a Cause dogs.
- Habitat for Humanity
- This Small House: Our architects teamed up with
area youth to design and construct a playhouse that was auctioned
on eBay to raise funds for various community organizations.
- Bat
House Competition: FTC&H's sustainable design group,
GreenSource, designed a bat house constructed out of natural
materials with thermal characteristics. It was entered into
an educational fundraising event at Cranbrook Institute of Science.
The occupied house is located at the Grand Rapids office.
- The University of Michigan C.S. MOTT Children's Hospital: Holiday
gift are collected for the families
- Supporting Underprivileged Families: Staff donates
and delivers gifts of food, clothing and toys so that these families
can enjoy the holiday season.
- REUSEASHOE: A collection of worn out athletic
shoes was collected. These shoes are recycled to make sport surfaces
for playgrounds in the inner city.
- Troops in Iraq
- In The Image: Annual children's book donation.
